Foundation For Peaceful Communities and A Community For Peace are in partnership and collaboration with Activism Articulated with the 2nd Saturday events #2NDSATCLARA.   The collaboration represents an alignment with the mission of PEACE and creating a space that is an accessible, inter-sectional and radically inclusive atmosphere for great art of all mediums and provides a platform of support for artists in underrepresented communities.

ABOUT Activism Articulated: Activism Articulated is an advocacy communications firm deeply committed to amplifying marginalized voices within the Sacramento community. The 2nd Saturday Events, in partnership with the CLARA center for the Performing Arts create an accessible, inter-sectional and radically inclusive atmosphere for great art of all mediums and provides a platform of support for artists in underrepresented communities. http://www.activismarticulated.com/

DIASPORA PARTY (Part of the CLARA 2nd Saturday Events)

A Dance Party spanning the sounds of the Diaspora (African/Native/Brazillian Drums/Sacred Music to Gospel/Vintage House and MORE!)

11:00AM – 2:30PM ~ Suggested Donation $5.00 online OR $10.00 day of the event (KID friendly)

1:00PM – 7:00PM ~ Clara Arts FLEA MARKET (outdoors)

2:00PM  ~  Outdoor Community Stage

6:00PM – 10:30PM ~ “SALTY” Vogue Ball and Party (for 21 and older only)

Hosted by SJSP, Leaf & Lotus, Capoeira Batuque Sacramento:

The event starts off with Capoiera Movement followed by the Musical Stylings of: DJ Black Yoda *This is a drug and alcohol free, family friendly event. Leave shoes and conversations at the door. Brought to you by Activism Articulated and CLARA Arts 2nd Saturday. The Sacramento Diaspora Dance Party is a community dance gathering open to all.

The morning kicks off with donation-based yoga by Afro Yoga and a capoeira demonstration and drumming by the Brazilian Center before transitioning into ‘Diaspora’ an all-ages, alcohol-free daytime dance party with DJ Black Yoda until 2:30 PM. Starting at 1PM, Sacramento’s DIVA Market will begin in the courtyard at CLARA, offering local vendors an opportunity to share their wares and support local artisans.

The #2NDSATCLARA Events provide a new and innovative way to interact with art each month through day-long event offerings and community engagement in an accessible, intersectional and radically inclusive atmosphere. From donation-based yoga presented by Afro Yoga in the morning to our first ever “SALTY” Party/ “SALT BALL” Vogueing Event… these events are by and for the community.* The purpose of this event is to give the Sacramento community a place and a platform to come together in an inclusive and judgement-free space to collaborate, celebrate and express themselves.

GENERAL ADMISSION AT THE PARTY: $10.00/ per person

The doors will open for party number two, co-hosted by the West Coast House of Lauren. If you attended the first party, come back for 2nds with an adults-only event highlighting LGBTQ2S+ communities at The SALT BALL. This competitive vogue ball features stiff competition for cash prizes, a one-hour open bar sponsored by Bogle winery, and an early start/end time designed to send patrons straight to local nightlife establishments when the event ends at 10 PM.

Current and planned P.E.A.C.E. Projects offer a range of skills and support to several different populations
  • Soroptimist House: A safe, comfortable transitional home for survivors of domestic violence and their children located in Citrus House.
  • Safe Haven for CSEC/Trafficked Girls:  A safe-have home for ‘Commercially Sexually Exploited Children/Girls’ aged 12 to 17. A place to be protected, respected, and loved. Providing an environment of healing, understanding, and safety.
  • Permanent Supportive Housing Community: Including onsite resources for women, children, and veterans.
  • Mentoring & Partnerships: Nurturing tomorrow’s business leaders today through an entrepreneurial and business educational incubator training center.
  • Performing Arts Center: Instilling confidence and freedom through artistic discipline, our performing arts center will be a hub for creativity and self-expression.
